She receives a mysterious letter after her husband’s death: what the doctor had kept from her leaves her speechless.

There are stories that stop you in your tracks. Sally’s is one of them. Her husband, Mark, had just died; she was eight months pregnant, and as she was leaving the hospital, the doctor ran after her down the corridor. In his hand, an envelope. On the front, her name written in Mark’s handwriting. And this chilling sentence: “He made me promise not to give it to you until after he died.”

When love takes on a whole new dimension

Mark and Sally had been married for three years when the long-awaited pregnancy finally arrived. Six months of pure bliss. And then the diagnosis came, brutal and final: a serious illness, perhaps three months to live. A reality impossible to accept, especially with a baby growing and kicking at your fingertips.

It was on the porch of their house, one evening, that Mark gently placed his hand on Sally’s stomach. Little Cecelia stirred. And told him, in a low voice, that he wanted to donate his organs if it was possible. Sally wanted to protest. But deep down, she knew. Mark had already made up his mind.
